A Catholic Mother’s Day Reflection

A Catholic Mother’s Day Reflection

When we celebrate Mother’s Day, we remember not just the women who gave us life, but the ones who taught us how to turn to God.

Before he was Saint Padre Pio, he was a boy learning how to pray. And he never forgot who first pointed him in the right direction.

Padre Pio once said: “My mother was a woman of great faith. She always taught me to turn to Jesus and Mary for everything.”

We do not know much more about her. But these words are enough to remind us how powerful a mother’s faith can be.

This Mother’s Day, we also turn to Our Lady under the title of Our Lady of the Angels, the patroness of our Capuchin province.

It was at the little church dedicated to her, the Portiuncula, that Saint Francis of Assisi first heard the call to rebuild the Church. It is under her protection that the friars still walk today.

Today we thank God for our mothers and entrust them to Our Lady.

And we ask for the grace to live the kind of faith that points others to Christ.

Happy Mother’s Day!
