Meet the Postulants: Ricardo Mendoza

This August, several young men will begin their postulancy year with the Capuchin Franciscans. In the weeks ahead, we’ll be introducing each of them as they take this first step into Capuchin life.

Meet Ricardo Mendoza. Ricardo comes to the Capuchins from Fresno, California. After graduating from Fresno State with a degree in Liberal Studies, he worked in special education, supporting students with emotional disabilities.

When asked what drew him to the Capuchins, Ricardo shared, “I was drawn to their highly active ministry life, especially their careful attention to the needs of the poor and distressed. Plus, their habits look cool!”

As he enters postulancy, Ricardo is looking forward to a quiet and structured life of prayer.

In his free time, he enjoys learning the Mexican folk harp, hiking the Sierra foothills, film photography, writing short narratives, and studying Portuguese. He describes himself as serious, quiet, and reserved. His favorite saint is St. Crispin of Viterbo.

Please keep Ricardo and our incoming postulants in your prayers as they begin this new chapter.
