During our recent provincial retreat, with friars gathered from across the province, three of our student friars renewed their vows. Br. Artie, Br. Simon, and Br. Angelo renewed their profession of poverty, chastity, and obedience to the Capuchin order.
After the novitiate, a friar makes his first profession of vows for a limited time and renews it each year while he continues his formation and studies. This continues until he is ready to make solemn profession, his final and lifelong commitment to the order.
The same day, Br. Peter Ciolino renewed his vows, 50 years after he first professed them. Though a perpetually professed friar makes a permanent commitment, Br. Peter chose to renew his vows again as he marked his golden jubilee.
