Six New Postulants Accepted into the Capuchin Franciscans

The Capuchin Franciscans of the Western Province are excited to welcome six new postulants who will begin their formation journey in August.

Meet the 2025 Postulants:

  1. Jose Chavez, 36 – Fresno, CA
  2. Iven Morales, 25 – West Covina, CA
  3. Isaiah Joseph, 21 – San Francisco, CA
  4. Dominic Maricich, 26 – Renton, WA
  5. Ricardo Mendoza, 24 – Fresno, CA
  6. Elijah Miller, 25 – Sacramento, CA

These men are now living in community and entering into the rhythm of prayer, service, and formation that marks the Capuchin way of life.

What Is Postulancy?

Postulancy is the first formal stage of entering religious life with the Capuchins. It is a year dedicated to prayer, community, and learning more about the Capuchin Franciscan charism. Postulants live with the friars and participate in daily life, ministry, and formation as they continue to discern God’s call.

This time of formation is not yet a vow or final decision, but an intentional step toward deepening one’s relationship with Christ and exploring the possibility of life as a Capuchin Franciscan.

Please Keep Them in Your Prayers

As these six men begin this new chapter, we ask you to join us in praying for them. May the Lord guide, strengthen, and bless them as they seek to follow Him more closely.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for them.

Could the Capuchin Life Be for You?

If you’ve ever felt the pull toward something more (a life of prayer, brotherhood, and service)religious life might be worth exploring. The Capuchin Franciscan way is simple, radical, and deeply rooted in Christ.

We walk with men who are discerning, ask questions, and are open to where God may be leading them.
