Meet the Postulants: Dominic Maricich

Join us in welcoming Dominic to his first year with the Capuchin Franciscans.

Originally from Seal Beach, California, Dominic has already traveled a unique path toward religious life. He began as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Seattle, where his director encouraged him to discern with the Capuchins. At a March for Life in San Francisco, he met Fr. Victor, which helped open the door to his first experience with the friars. After stepping away for a time, Dominic has returned with a renewed sense of calling.

What drew him most to the Capuchins is at the very heart of their life: being a “lesser brother.” As he puts it, Saint Francis wanted to live the Gospel, and you can only do that by serving others. That simplicity and service are what inspire Dominic as he begins this stage of formation.

Dominic describes himself as determined, loyal/caring, and stoic. Before formation, he worked as a personal trainer in Long Beach. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors—hiking, camping, and lifting weights, especially alongside his family and friends. If he could sit next to any saint on a plane, he says it would be St. John Paul II.

As Dominic settles into Capuchin life, we invite you to keep him and his brothers in your prayers. May God guide them in their growth as “lesser brothers,” following the Gospel way of life.
