Earlier this month, young men discerning religious life gathered at San Lorenzo Seminary in Santa Ynez for our Come and See retreat. The weekend provided time for prayer, fraternity, and reflection on God’s call.
The retreat centered on prayer, with Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Liturgy of the Hours with the friars. The quiet setting of the seminary gave space to step away from distractions and focus on listening to God’s voice. The group also visited Old Mission Santa Inés, where the Capuchins serve in sacramental ministry, connecting them to the work of the order in the local Church.

Throughout the weekend, the men heard talks from the friars on discernment, vocation, and what it means to follow Christ in the Capuchin way of life. They spent time with the friars, sharing meals and conversations, and took a trip into Solvang for ice cream. They also prepared sandwiches for the homeless, embracing the Capuchin tradition of serving the poor in simple, tangible ways.
Please keep these men in your prayers as they continue seeking God’s will. Keep an eye out for the next Come and See retreat this summer, an opportunity to step away, pray, and experience the Capuchin way for yourself.
